Leading metallurgical equipment manufacturers have officially launched a new-generation steel billet induction preheating machine tailored for high-efficiency and green rolling mill production lines, bringing comprehensive technical upgrades to the traditional hot rolling process. The new equipment has completed industrial commissioning and batch put into operation in multiple steel production bases, effectively solving the long-standing pain points of high energy consumption, uneven heating and excessive oxide scale in traditional flame furnace heating processes, and empowering the steel rolling industry to achieve dual improvement in production efficiency and environmental performance.

As the core pre-processing equipment of the rolling mill production line, steel billet preheating quality directly determines the dimensional accuracy, surface quality and mechanical properties of finished steel products such as rebars, wire rods and section steels. Different from traditional gas-fired and coal-fired heating furnaces that rely on external heat radiation for heating, the new steel billet heating and reheating furnace adopts advanced IGBT medium-frequency induction heating technology. It generates heat through internal electromagnetic induction of the steel billet, realizing rapid and uniform overall heating, thoroughly changing the defect of large internal and external temperature difference in traditional heating modes.

Energy conservation and environmental protection are the prominent advantages of the new equipment. Data from industrial operation tests show that the thermal efficiency of the induction preheating machine exceeds 60%, far higher than that of traditional heating furnaces. It greatly reduces invalid heat loss in the heating process, cutting comprehensive energy consumption per ton of steel by more than 20%. Meanwhile, the closed non-flame heating structure avoids fuel combustion emissions, and the steel billet oxidation burning loss rate is reduced to less than 0.3%, which not only improves the yield of finished steel products, but also effectively reduces the generation of oxide scale and industrial waste gas, fully complying with international metallurgical energy consumption standards and green production specifications.

In terms of production adaptability and stability, the new machine supports flexible temperature adjustment and segmented heating control, which can meet the preheating process requirements of carbon steel, low-alloy steel and other diversified steel grades. The optimized induction coil structure and heat insulation design extend the service life of core components and reduce equipment failure rates and maintenance costs. In addition, the equipment is equipped with intelligent fault early warning and automatic protection functions, which can realize unattended continuous operation, greatly improving the automation level and operational stability of the entire rolling mill production line.
