Wuqiao, Hebei, China — Steel billet manufacturers have long struggled with two stubborn production defects: uneven temperature distribution and heavy oxide scaling. These issues trigger inconsistent rolling quality, increased metal loss and high scrap rates. Forever Electromechanical, a professional developer and manufacturer of induction thermal processing equipment, has upgraded its billet heat treatment machine, specially targeting these two pain points for carbon steel and alloy billet producers. The continuous induction system serves forging, hot rolling and extrusion clients across Russia, the Middle East, Europe and Southeast Asia, delivering stable metallurgical performance and higher material yield.

Traditional gas-fired furnaces and old-style single-zone induction devices create obvious temperature gradients inside billets. Cold ends, core-surface temperature differences and local hot spots are common. When billets with uneven temperature enter rolling mills, deformation resistance varies across the cross-section, causing dimensional errors, folding defects and accelerated roll wear. Meanwhile, long holding time under high temperature leads to thick oxide scale and surface decarburization. The scale falls off during processing, resulting in raw material loss and extra cleaning procedures, raising overall production costs for metal factories.
Forever Electromechanical adopts multi-stage segmented induction heating structure for the automatic billet induction heating system. Cold billets go through preheating zone, main heating zone and temperature equalization zone step by step, instead of sudden exposure to extreme high heat. Multiple infrared pyrometers are installed along the conveying line to collect real-time temperature data. The PLC closed-loop control independently adjusts power of each coil section, balancing temperature from billet head to tail and from surface to core. Temperature deviation can be controlled within a narrow range. This staged design reduces thermal shock and removes cold zones, providing consistent billet temperature ready for subsequent hot forming.

The biggest advantage of induction heating is rapid internal heating generated by eddy currents. Unlike gas furnaces that keep billets in high-temperature atmosphere for hours, Forever’s machine finishes heating within minutes. Short residence time at high temperature greatly suppresses oxidation reaction, minimizing oxide scale on billet surface. Less scale means lower metal loss, fewer cleaning steps and cleaner billet surface before rolling. For alloy steel billets sensitive to decarburization, this feature helps preserve original material properties and reduce surface defects after forging.
The system uses roller rotary conveying. Billets rotate slowly while moving forward through induction coils, achieving circumferentially uniform heating. Operators set parameters via HMI touchscreen according to billet size, steel grade and target temperature. The machine automatically adjusts feeding speed and power output. The whole workflow runs continuously with minimal manual operation, lowering labor cost and human error. The modular coil design supports quick replacement when switching billet specifications, shortening production downtime.
After even heating, billets can enter inline quenching and tempering stations as required. Controlled cooling removes internal residual stress and optimizes microstructure. Uniform heating lays a solid foundation for consistent hardness and mechanical properties of finished rolled or forged products. Clients report lower reject rate and more stable batch quality after switching to Forever’s billet induction heat treatment machine.

Forever Electromechanical provides full turnkey packages including equipment design, factory pre-testing, on-site installation, commissioning and operator training. The engineering team customizes coil layout and power configuration to match customers’ billet sizes and workshop layout. Remote technical support and spare parts supply are available for overseas long-term operation.
As metal forming industries pursue higher material yield and greener thermal processing, induction technology gradually replaces conventional fuel furnaces. Forever Electromechanical keeps refining multi-zone induction control, helping steel billet manufacturers tackle uneven heating and scaling problems, cut material waste and upgrade production quality in competitive global markets.
