Against global steel decarbonization trends, an important medium‑large steel rolling enterprise in Southeast Asia faced urgent upgrading demands for its slab reheating workshop. The customer mainly produces carbon steel and low‑alloy steel slabs for construction machinery and pressure‑vessel raw materials. Previously, the plant adopted traditional gas‑fired reheating furnaces for slab heating.

This real‑world overseas project contained several non‑negotiable technical difficulties. First, the local power grid had voltage fluctuation risks, which required the power supply system to resist grid interference. Second, the induction heat treatment machine needed to adapt to mixed feeding of hot‑charged and cold‑charged slabs, with slab thickness ranging from 120 mm to 260 mm. Strict requirements asked for overall heating uniformity within ±12 ℃ across slab cross‑section. Third, the workshop layout was limited; new induction equipment must seamlessly dock with the existing roller‑table and downstream rolling procedures without large‑scale civil reconstruction. Moreover, local on‑site operators lacked rich experience with large‑scale IGBT induction heat‑treatment devices, calling for simplified human‑machine interaction and complete remote technical support mechanism.

The full‑automatic PLC closed‑loop temperature control system connects with the original production line roller‑table, realizing automatic feeding, real‑time temperature monitoring and fault alarm. No major civil‑work modification was needed, greatly shortening installation cycle. The system reserves remote diagnosis interface for overseas after‑sales, matching multilingual operation screen for local staff. The whole line supports 24‑hour continuous heavy‑load operation, meeting the client’s target daily processing capacity of 220 tons of steel slabs.
