Steel Plate Quenching and Tempering Experimental Furnace Put Into Operation to Upgrade High-End Casting Materials

Recently, a newly upgraded steel plate hardening and tempering furnace has completed commissioning and officially entered trial operation. It is widely applied in the quenching and tempering process experiments for cast steel plates, engineering machinery plates and special steel structural materials. The launch of this equipment effectively fills the enterprise’s gaps in new material research and development, heat treatment process optimization and batch sample testing, providing crucial equipment support for the quality upgrading of high-end cast steel plates.

Traditionally, the heat treatment of steel plates mainly relies on mass production lines, which are plagued by high experimental costs, inflexible process parameter adjustment and inconvenient small-batch sample testing. These shortcomings make it difficult to adapt to the research and iteration of new alloy steel plates and high-strength cast steel plates. Differing from conventional production equipment, the newly commissioned steel plate quenching and tempering experimental furnace is specially designed for laboratory and pilot-scale test scenarios. It integrates precise temperature rise, uniform heat preservation, controllable cooling and intelligent temperature control functions, which can fully simulate the industrial quenching and tempering production process and realize the full-process replication of quenching and tempering technologies.

Equipped with a zoned heating structure, the furnace achieves high-precision uniform temperature control in the hearth, effectively solving common defects such as thermal deformation and hardness deviation of steel plates with uneven thickness during heat treatment. Supported by an intelligent temperature control system, the equipment can real-timely record core data including heating rate, heat preservation duration and cooling curve. It supports the storage, review and optimization of process parameters, enabling customized quenching and tempering schemes for cast steel plates of different materials. Meanwhile, the optimized sealing and heat dissipation structure reduces energy consumption and improves operational safety, fully meeting the long-term and high-frequency sample test requirements of laboratories.

During the trial operation, the technical team conducted multiple groups of quenching and tempering experiments on high-strength cast steel plates. Test results show that the samples processed by the experimental furnace have more uniform metallographic structure and remarkable grain refinement effect. The strength, toughness and wear resistance of the materials all meet the design standards, with greatly improved batch stability. Through multiple rounds of process iteration, the technical team has optimized key parameters such as quenching temperature and tempering heat preservation time for cast steel plates of different thicknesses, providing reliable process data support for subsequent large-scale production.
The official operation of the slab induction heat treatment production line has formed a closed loop of "experimental research – process optimization – mass production". In the next stage, the enterprise will rely on this professional experimental platform to continuously carry out heat treatment process research for new cast plates and alloy structural steels, further improve the core performance of products, and empower the high-quality development of the high-end casting and engineering machinery industries.
