Steel Plate Induction Heat Treatment Machine | Low-Carbon Upgrade Solution

Oct. 05, 2026

Overview

Forever Electromechanical, a specialist manufacturer of Induction heat treatment furnace, has delivered a complete low-carbon upgrade solution for a steel plate induction heat treatment machine for a heavy metal processing enterprise. Traditional steel plate heat treatment equipment usually suffers from high heat loss, low energy utilization and unstable plate hardness. This upgrade project optimizes the power system, heating structure and intelligent control module on the basis of retaining the original production frame. After commissioning, the upgraded machine achieves lower carbon emission, stable metallurgical performance and reduced operating cost, bringing a practical green transformation path for the steel plate processing industry.

Steel Plate Induction Heat Treatment Machine | Low-Carbon Upgrade Solution

Project Background & Existing Equipment Defects

The client’s original plate induction heating production line adopted outdated power modules and single-sided heating design. In daily production, multiple obvious weaknesses restricted its benefits. First, the electrothermal conversion efficiency was low, with large heat dissipation from the heating area, leading to high power consumption per ton of steel plates. Second, uneven heating easily caused inconsistent hardness and flatness deformation of thick steel plates, raising the product rejection rate. Third, the old control system lacked dynamic power adjustment. It kept high energy output regardless of steel plate thickness and feeding speed, resulting in continuous energy waste. Meanwhile, the open cooling system consumed large volumes of water, and carbon emissions remained high. The client expected to improve product quality and cut energy cost without replacing the whole set of equipment.

Core Low-Carbon Upgrade Measures

Forever Electromechanical’s engineering team designed targeted low-carbon transformation schemes.

  1. High-efficiency IGBT power supply upgradeThe original power unit was replaced with high-performance IGBT induction heating power supply. It greatly improves power factor and electrothermal conversion efficiency, reduces reactive power loss and idling power consumption. The system can automatically adjust output power according to steel plate thickness, moving speed and target temperature.

  2. Optimized segmented induction heating structureRedesigned double-sided segmented induction coils are equipped with high-temperature thermal insulation layers around the heating chamber. This reduces heat radiation loss, ensures uniform heating on both sides of steel plates, and minimizes plate deformation and surface oxidation.

  3. Digital intelligent closed-loop control systemMulti-point infrared temperature sensors are installed in heating and quenching sections. The digital control system monitors temperature, speed and power in real time. It automatically cuts redundant energy supply to avoid overheating, and records all production data for energy consumption analysis.

  4. Energy-saving closed circulating cooling systemThe open cooling system is upgraded to closed constant-temperature circulation with variable frequency water pumps. It saves water resources and cuts auxiliary power consumption, lowering the overall carbon footprint of the heat treatment line.

On-Site Operation Effect

After two months of continuous trial operation, the low-carbon upgrade achieves remarkable results. The comprehensive power consumption per ton of steel plates is reduced by 24%. The temperature control accuracy is stabilized within ±3℃, and the hardness uniformity of treated steel plates is greatly improved, with the rejection rate decreased by nearly 20%. The closed cooling system reduces water consumption by 28%. The upgraded machine can run stably for 24 hours continuously. The investment of this low-carbon transformation can be recovered within about 17 months through saved electricity and water fees.

Conclusion & Industry Value

This low-carbon upgrade case proves that retrofitting existing steel plate induction heating machine is an economical way for metal manufacturers to realize energy conservation and emission reduction. Forever Electromechanical will keep developing low-carbon induction heating technology. We provide customized upgrade solutions and new equipment for global clients in steel plate, steel bar and tubular product heat treatment.
