At present, most traditional steel billet reheating furnaces adopt old thyristor power supply and open-loop heating mode. Long-term continuous operation leads to low thermal efficiency, serious reactive power loss, uneven billet temperature, high power consumption and frequent equipment overheating alarms. Old-fashioned coil layout is unreasonable, heat dissipation loss is large, and the power factor is always lower than 0.85. It not only causes high daily electricity cost, but also easily leads to billet surface overheating, core under-heating, low forging yield and increased production downtime. To solve the above pain points, Forever Electromechanical launches a targeted full-set energy-saving renovation plan for old induction reheating furnaces, which is suitable for carbon steel, alloy steel, round billet and square billet forging preheating production lines.

First, replace the old thyristor power supply with a new generation of digital IGBT medium-frequency energy-saving power supply. The power factor is increased to more than 0.95, reactive power loss is greatly reduced, and no additional reactive power compensation cabinet is required. Second, redesign and replace high-efficiency integrated water-cooled induction coils, optimize coil turns and magnetic field spacing, reduce electromagnetic leakage loss, and improve billet penetration heating efficiency. Third, add infrared real-time temperature closed-loop control system, automatically adjust power according to billet size and feeding speed, avoid invalid high-power idling heating. Fourth, upgrade closed circulating constant-temperature water cooling system to reduce cooling heat loss and extend the service life of power supply and coils. Finally, optimize the mechanical feeding synchronization linkage program to match heating rhythm accurately.

After the energy-saving renovation, the comprehensive power saving rate reaches 20%–35%, and the monthly electricity cost is significantly reduced. The temperature difference of the steel billet is controlled within ±10℃, the forging qualification rate is improved, and the oxidation burning loss is reduced. The equipment runs stably with low failure rate, no frequent over-current and over-temperature alarms. The whole renovation construction is fast, no need to dismantle the whole furnace body, no production shutdown for a long time.
