On-site Material Test: Steel billet induction heating production line Verified by Overseas Customer

Recently, a professional overseas forging customer visited our manufacturing workshop to conduct sampling verification and on-site commissioning of the billet induction heating machine. Targeting the customer’s actual production parameters, including billet metallurgical composition, forging forming temperature and thermal processing tolerance, the whole heating test adopted industrial data monitoring mode. Benefiting from outstanding penetration heating performance, minimal axial and radial temperature deviation and steady electromagnetic induction output, the equipment obtained high approval from the client, establishing reliable prerequisites for subsequent long-term strategic cooperation.

In the thermal processing and metal plastic forming industry, billet heating is an indispensable pre-forging procedure for hot working treatment. Conventional heating furnaces generally have technical bottlenecks such as poor thermal conductivity, severe decarburization phenomenon, excessive oxide scaling and high carbon emission. These common deficiencies easily lead to metallurgical defects, thermal stress cracks and low mechanical properties of finished forgings, which cannot satisfy high-standard precision forging requirements. The customer brought carbon steel, alloy steel and other multi-specification solid round billets, putting forward strict technical indicators including homogeneous through-heating, zero hot spot and ultra-thin oxide layer to adapt to their automated hydraulic forging press production line.

This customized billet induction heating machine adopts advanced IGBT induction heating power supply and closed-loop PID constant temperature control system. Equipped with infrared thermometers and real-time data acquisition modules, the equipment precisely monitors temperature fluctuation during the heating process. The technical team simulated industrial continuous feeding rhythm to test key parameters such as heating gradient, core-surface temperature difference and power conversion efficiency. The test results show that the induction heating system realizes uniform penetration heating; the billet maintains consistent metallographic structure without overheating burning. The surface oxide scale is effectively controlled, fully meeting the technological threshold of precision die forging.

Compared with traditional gas-fired furnaces and resistance furnaces, this electromagnetic induction heating device possesses prominent technical advantages. It features rapid temperature rise, low thermal inertia and flexible power modulation. The integrated circulating water cooling system ensures stable operation of the resonant circuit and intermediate frequency power supply. Furthermore, the equipment achieves more than 25% energy saving rate, effectively reducing specific energy consumption. Featuring flameless heating and low noise operation, it complies with industrial environmental protection emission standards and modern workshop safety production specifications.

After the sampling test, our professional engineers demonstrated the mechanical structure, human-machine interaction system and daily preventive maintenance guidelines. Combined with the customer’s production line layout, billet blanking specifications and hourly output demand, we optimized the automatic feeding mechanism and circulating cooling system to formulate a targeted thermal processing solution. The customer verified all industrial test data on the spot and highly affirmed the equipment’s thermal stability, mechanical rigidity and industrial adaptability.
